A huge ‘Thank you’ to the Waitrose shoppers of Sudbury who helped raise £368 in support of Our Special Friends (OSF), local volunteer-led charity who help vulnerable people in West Suffolk through the companionship of animals.
The fundraising appeal was organised by Mary Roberts, longstanding OSF Volunteer, through the Waitrose Community Matters Scheme. Mary (pictured front right) and her volunteer dog, Buster, are familiar faces in and around Sudbury. Richard Upton, Sudbury Waitrose Branch Manager, presented OSF volunteers with a cheque from the money raised by Waitrose customers during September.
In collaboration with Human Health, Social Care and local Vets, OSF helps to provide practical and emotional support. Volunteers offer a range of services, including regular dog-walking, home visits with a volunteer dog, visits to hospices and care homes as well as other forms of practical help.
Imogen Sherwood, Local Area Co-coordinator from Suffolk County Council: ‘We work alongside people in Sudbury to sustain their vision of a ‘good life’. Our collaborative work with Our Special Friends helps us to provide that support and enhance people’s lives in the Sudbury area.’
