Fantastic results. Vet, Marc Abraham, who led the Lucy’s Law campaign to victory in Westminster!

14/02/2020

Marc Abraham, vet and animal welfare campaigner, led the Lucy’s Law campaign to help end irresponsible dog and cat breeding practices like puppy farming, to victory in Westminster.

Lucy’s Law means that from April 6 2020 in England, 3rd party kitten and puppy dealers will be banned, meaning dogs and cats will only be able to be sourced direct from the breeder, or better still from a reputable rescue centre. Both Wales and Scotland have confirmed they will also be bringing in Lucy’s Law revealing their dates soon, with Northern Ireland already beginning talks as well. We hope therefore, that within the next year or so, there will be no more 3rd party puppy or kitten dealers, such as pet shops, operating on the UK mainland, thus making all breeders accountable, encouraging more rescue pet adoption, as well as also starving/removing the market for irresponsibly-bred puppies supplied by puppy farms in Southern Ireland too.

Marc has written a book about the 10 year journey which led to getting Lucy’s Law through Westminster, inspired by a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breeding dog rescued from a puppy farm ‘Lucy’s Law: The story of a little dog who changed the world’ which comes out on 5 March 2020, to perhaps inspire other grassroots campaigners with limited/no resources/budgets campaigning for animal welfare and make a difference, as well as helping publicise the new law coming in.

If you would be interested in pre-ordering a copy before it his the shelves, Marc can off a 20% discount to supporters of his campaign. In return, he will be making donations from book sales to various small-mid sized animal welfare organisations who work tirelessly to promote rescue pet adoption and animal welfare.
