We started our fostering journey with Our Special Friends a few months ago. They are a charity that I felt I wanted to give something back to, a few years ago they supported our family and found a loving home for a loved one’s furry baby. It wasn’t until recently we had been in a place to be able to ‘give back’. We hadn’t long registered when I received a phone call for an emergency short-term foster home. We agreed straight away and picked her up within a few hours of the phone call. When we collected her there was a mixture of things going on in my head- will she settle with us, will she like us?! All thoughts left when we arrived home and she was this little bundle of joy! She was with us for just under a week and reuniting her with her mum was so lovely and she was so grateful.
Volunteer Story – Fostering with Our Special Friends

Two days later we received a phone call to see if we could take two Cockapoos, I checked with my partner who didn’t bat an eyelid at the thought of two dogs! Off we went to collect these two bundles of joy with massive personalities. Filling a place in our hearts that we didn’t know needed filling and a place in our bed which I’m happy to share. We have regular contact with the team at Our Special Friends and the dog’s family. I know that if I need anything I can contact the team and they will get back to me. We truly love having them both here but also know how amazing the reunite will be when their mummy is ready.
“You guys have saved me & my mum. Can’t thank you all enough. Freddie and Frankie are sooooo lucky to have a foster like Daniella and Josh”
