Welcome

We couldn’t go through April without marking our birthday. We celebrated our 8th (official) year on 23rd April and have set up a Just Giving 2022 Fundraising Campaign to encourage our supporters to donate, or to set up their own fundraiser to help us continue to provide animal companionship support services to an ever-widening community.

The more we are able to link up with other organisations in the community the more we can help people in the Suffolk area who don’t know where to turn to get the help when they need it.  Links with other organisations enable us to offer the Animal Companionship Support Services which help people, who are going through a crisis, retain a relationship with an animal companion that might just be their lifeline.

Organisations like Stepping Home, an East Suffolk Council project which recognises the impact housing has on the health, wellbeing, and independence of communities. The aim is to provide housing support for patients to prevent hospital admissions, remove barriers complicating hospital discharge, and enable independence.

Reach Haverhill whose purpose is to tackle poverty in and around Haverhill, restoring people’s dignity and reviving their hope.

Leading Lives who provide high quality social care support for people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs across Suffolk and beyond, in the home and in the community.

And The Rural Coffee Caravan who can be seen as the eyes and ears of the Suffolk community in helping to bring people together.

We love to share some of our stories with you in our newsletter, and some of the things people say about the difference we made when they were in crisis. See Please help us continue to help more people like this below.

In our Client  Story below, Adam, who had been a client, came back to us as a volunteer with an offer to raise funds for Our Special Friends.  We helped Adam and his family when he was admitted into hospital as an emergency following a road traffic accident. We had arranged for his dog to be fostered by an elderly lady while he was in hospital. It was wonderful that almost a year later a healthy Adam got back in touch with us to thank us for what we had done for him and his dog while he recuperated.

With thanks from the team at Our Special Friends

We recount the stressful journey of a little cat, who has finally landed on her feet in Polly’s Journey. We also have a wonderful Volunteer Story from Sophie who is finding her volunteering really rewarding.
